Our Mission.

Hi, I’m Sam - a founder of Mentric.

Mentric started late one night in my university bedroom following an online therapy session.

I have severe OCD. For many that might mean I am very organised, or I order my pencils in a specific way, or I hate germs. Honestly - I wish it was like that. Unfortunately, OCD is far from keeping things neat or clean. It’s a debilitating anxiety disorder that has had a profound impact on me and my life.

I’ve had OCD for as long as I can remember, and as I’ve grown up and into the condition, I’ve always felt let down by the solutions on offer. For I and so many others who have mental disorders and difficulties, therapy is the only way.

I’m extremely fortunate to have access to a therapist. Most who need it don’t. But it doesn’t solve everything. I’d describe it more as a helping hand, or a nudge in the right direction. For such an expensive helping hand, you still have to do so much work on your own, and after a late night online therapy session, I sat there and contemplated what needed to change..

I realised how many of my friends didn’t have access to therapy, but furthermore how many of those who did still struggled. I’d thankfully grown up in an accepting generation, but even in that, I knew so many people who were still chronically struggling.

1 in 4 of us will face a mental health battle at some time in our lives. But 75% of us in that situation will not receive the care we need. That means almost 20% of us will be weighed down, debilitated and scarred by challenges we have no control over, or an abundance of tools to confront.

Mentric was founded to change that. I believe, firmly, that with the right people, and a dedicated team, there are better solutions to be found for this problem. I believe there is a realistic and near future in which mental illness is not this mystery disease we have so little control over.

Mentric aims to revolutionise mental wellness. We are targeting a future in which there are a plethora of mental wellness tools and solutions available to those who need it.

The global inaccessibility of mental health solutions and treatment is a public health crisis. The World Health Organisation calls it the mhGAP, we call it the inaccessibility of feeling okay.

Mentric envisages a world in which mental health solutions and treatment is commonplace and universally accessible. We believe there are powerful solutions outside of the therapy room, which circumvent current barriers of cost, culture, and capacity.

We’re a team of devoted people, passionate about working towards a world where feeling okay is not lucky dip. Everyone has the right to reach their full potential, and live a fulfilled and meaningful life, free from mental barriers they can’t surmount.

Sam.
